Close to
Cow Palace and McLaren Park, one of biggest in San Francisco. It has a golf
course and a lake. Large playground, called Crocker-Amazon. Looking south
toward Daly City, San Bruno Mountain.
Local
concern that shows up in news stories: a large public housing complex that has
crime problems. It is located north of Crocker-Amazon on Sunnydale Avenue, near
McLaren Park.
No tourist
attractions that call attention. Nothing chi-chi or artsy. Bedroom. Streets
spill into Daly City neighborhoods and into Excelsior district.
Neighborhood
took name from Crocker Land Company, the developer, and from Amazon Avenue. www.mccormacks.com
Many of
the jobs in this area are oriented more toward San Francisco Airport (SFO) and
its environs than downtown San Francisco.
Buses to BART station or directly to downtown.
With the
opening of BART all the way to the airport, Crocker-Amazon residents have an
easier time getting to SFO jobs.
Hills
protect Crocker-Amazon from ocean fogs. Considered one of the sunnier
neighborhoods of San Francisco.
If you are
looking to buy in San Francisco and can't afford the prices close to downtown,
Crocker-Amazon is a good place to look. Its prices will be cheaper.
